Boeing Research & Technology has an immediate opening for a Senior Aerodynamics Engineer. This position will be based at the Boeing Research & Technology India Center in Bangalore, India. This is a senior technical position that is expected to provide technical leadership to a team of engineers & scientists to develop advanced technology solutions to improve aircraft performance & operational efficiency (Aerodynamics, CFD, Propulsion Integration, Multi-disciplinary optimization & related areas) in support of Boeing’s strategic technology plan.
The Senior Aerodynamics Engineer will work closely with teams based in the US, and participate in developing the strategy and roadmaps for advancing Flight Vehicle Technologies (such as aerodynamics, CFD, propulsion integration, and MDO).
Other key responsibilities of this position include the following.
Provide technical and project leadership to a team of young Aerodynamics / CFD engineers at the Bangalore Center.
Motivate, develop and mentor employees, and provide technical oversight to achieve excellent technical and business outcomes from a portfolio of projects to be accomplished by the India team.
Lead the development of new CFD technologies, algorithms, tools & processes to enhance technology readiness level.
Define and support experimental aerodynamics activities that complement computational work and enable the advancement of aerodynamics knowledge.
Propose, plan and generate new research initiatives and projects to develop advanced technologies consistent with integrated departmental strategies, goals and objectives, and maintain a technology roadmap that is closely aligned to the needs of Boeing.
Engage with the research community in India, and identify sources in India capable of meeting Boeing’s technology needs; also develop engagement options, and participate in implementing the selected options to achieve the desired outcomes.
Provide periodic updates in the form of progress reports, project summaries, and other related documents to Boeing executive management in India and in the US.
Acquire resources for departmental activities, develop and administer budgets, schedules and performance standards, as well as lead process improvements to meet the requirements of internal stakeholders.
This position will require limited travel within India and internationally.

Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. degree in Aeronautical / Aerospace Engineering, with specialization in Aerodynamics / Fluid Dynamics, and a thorough understanding of airplane aerodynamics is required.
Candidates must have research experience of atleast 10 years (after Ph.D.) in areas of computational methods / software development relevant to aircraft configurations (such as Navier-Stokes Solver, Mesh Generation, optimization techniques). Experience in unsteady flow simulations (ex. active flow control) or multi-disciplinary applications such as aeroelasticity or aeroacoustics is highly desirable.
